About the Ranch

600 Acres of Hill Country

Double C Ranch is a 600-acre family-friendly hunting ranch near Roosevelt, Texas — approximately 20 miles west of Junction in the Kimble County area, and under two hours from San Antonio. The ranch spans classic Hill Country terrain: rolling hills, cedar and oak cover, open pastures, and the kind of landscape that has drawn hunters to this part of Texas for generations.

The ranch supports a mixture of native and exotic animals. Native Hill Country whitetail share the land with axis deer and blackbuck antelope — giving hunters a variety of opportunities in a single destination. All hunts take place during whitetail season.

Wildlife & Hunting Areas

Whitetail Deer

Native Hill Country whitetail managed by age and number of points. The ranch takes a careful approach to herd management — decisions on the land are made by the ranch manager to preserve the quality of the herd.

Axis Deer

Beautiful spotted exotics native to India, now well-established across the Texas Hill Country. Axis deer are among the exotic species found at Double C Ranch. All hunts occur during whitetail season.

Blackbuck Antelope

Striking Indian antelope with distinctive spiral horns. Blackbuck are among the most sought-after exotic species in Texas. See the Hunts & Pricing page for current rates.

High & Low Fence Areas

The ranch includes both high and low fence hunting areas. Hunt placement is determined by the ranch manager using cell trail cameras. Final decisions on the land are made by the ranch.

Herd Management

Our Whitetail Management Plan

Double C Ranch participates in the Roosevelt Hunting Club Whitetail Management Plan. The goal is a healthy, balanced herd managed for long-term quality.

  • Mature bucks are harvested at age 5½ or older with antlers outside the ears.
  • Cull bucks may be harvested at age 3½, especially those without brow tines.
  • The oldest does are harvested first, preferably before the rut.
  • Spikes and exotics are harvested to reduce pressure on limited resources.
